By volunteering with Cats Protection you really can help make a difference to the lives of cats, kittens and people in your community and across the UK.

Volunteering at the centre
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Birmingham Adoption Centre. With up to 200 cats in our care at any one time we could not achieve what we do without the hard work and dedication of our volunteers and donating your time is a great way to support us and have fun at the same time.

There are a variety of ways to volunteer within Cats Protection and Birmingham Adoption Centre, such as:

* Assisting with the care and socialisation of cats
* Adminstration
* Meet and Greet, handling enquires
* Gardening and DIY
* Helping the centre with events and open days
* Fundraising
* Educational talks
Your time is hugely important to us and we take volunteer roles very seriously. Each and every volunteer is a hugely valued member of our team, and we offer training, advice, support and guidance and strive to make volunteer roles as enjoyable as possible.

As a volunteer we aim to ensure you feel you are directly contributing to the care of the cats, as well as having the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and form new friendships.

Given the nature of what we do on any given day, we do need to have an organised and structured approach to our week so ideally we need volunteers who feel able to regularly commit to a set time/day each week.
Please see below for current volunteering opportunities within the centre. If you have any queries please contact Clara on Birmingham.Volunteering@cats .org.uk or 01564 822020.
Cat Care Volunteer

Across Cats Protection our feline friends looking for new homes are cared for either at our adoption centres, by volunteer fosterers in their own homes or in purpose built pens in their gardens. Our cat care volunteers are part of a passionate team that look after and meet the needs of cats whilst they are in our care. This is an exciting role for cat lovers, as our cat care volunteers get to spend time directly with the cats when cleaning their pens, helping with feeding and when enriching their lives before they find their forever homes.

DIY Volunteer

Whilst we do everything we can to find new loving homes for the cats in our care, it is a reality that our feline friends will have to spend some time in a rescue environment. Our DIY volunteers use their passion for all things DIY to help keep Cats Protection sites safe, tidy and welcoming. The cats in our care are more likely to be rehomed if they are content in their environment, and members of the public are more likely to visit their local Cats Protection site if it is a well maintained and enjoyable place to visit.

Volunteer events fundraiser

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our events fundraisers have the exciting and varied role of helping plan and deliver local fundraising events. They support a team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to help our feline friends in need. They use their passion for cats and people to plan cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!
