Adopt a cat

PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION BEFORE VIEWING THE CATS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE.

Are you looking for a cat or a kitten?
Yes? Then we would love to hear from you! We always have plenty of cats looking for caring homes!
So, how does it work........

  • First, just call the number below - leave a message with your details, where you live, and what you're looking for, and someone will get back to you as soon as possible. (Please be patient when waiting for your call back - all our volunteers are part-time and unpaid, so phones can't be manned at all times.)
  • The volunteer from the branch who calls you back will talk to you about what type of cat you are looking for and what we have
  • Reserve your cat. If you’re found to be a match for your chosen cat, you’ll be contacted via phone or email. You may be asked for proof of your address and the consent of your landlord (if you live in a rented property)
  •  Adopt. Once you have reserved your cat, you’ll be sent paperwork to sign and you’ll make a further telephone appointment with our team. In this call, you’ll have a chance to discuss everything you need to know about your cat. You’ll then pay an adoption fee of £100, ideally by bank transfer

  •  Bringing your cat home. Once this is finalised, we’ll arrange for a driver to bring your cat safely to your home

  •  Be supported. You’ll receive a follow-up call or email around three, seven and 21 days after the adoption to check that your new arrival is settled in. You can also find help and advice on the Cats Protection website at www.cats.org.uk/advice

Cats Protection charge an adoption fee per cat.

All cats from the Chiltern Branch have been:

  • Vet checked on admission
  • Vaccinated
  • De-flead and wormed
  • Neutered (if old enough)
  • Microchipped

This costs on average £180 per cat, excluding any other costs for food and keep, but our adoption fee is only £100.
