Jenny sells jam while the sun shines ...

Volunteer Jenny Reynolds made jam while the sun shone at Walsall Road allotments early in May. She topped her table with her delicious home-made jams and preserves - and raised around £125 for North Birmingham cats.

Says Jen: "I was able to catch up with all the ferals who live there, trapped and neutered by us - Calico, Freddie, Janet, E.T., Wanda and Virginia. The event was in aid of the Walsall Road allotments 'Felix Fund', which raises money for the feral cats' veterinary needs. It's a great arrangement we have, as the allotment holders give us fruit and veg which I turn into money-making jam and preserves. One regular customer, a plot-holder, bought £40 worth of chutneys. Other stalls included plants, tombola, and tea and cakes were on sale. Betty, who manages the allotments, as always did us all proud."

CP thanks to Walsall Road folk for all they do for the ferals on site - feeding, vet treatment, love and care - they get the lot at the allotments!

Of course, £125 is dwarfed by what Jenny and Buddy have raised nationally with the Buddy appeal - around £100K - but all goes to show she never lets up. Mind you, is that some grass growing under her feet? Doubt it !

And more event news. Jen never stops! The following weekend she covered the family fun day on the Topcroft Estate in Erdington and again the weather was good. By the end of proceedings, the neutering campaign message - £5 to neuter your cat - was well and truly spread - along with more jam, of course. And over £40 raised for cats - and every little helps.

Sunday the 15th May saw Jen at one of the regular Court Lane Allotments events. Says Jen: "Again, a lovely day and we made £127 by selling bric-a-brac, childrens toys, kitchenalia, and all sorts of garden stuff - the 'we' being myself, and volunteers Ann Simpson and Lizzie Harding."

More power to your elbow, Jen, and purrs of appreciation for all you do.
