purrfect pair sign up for the peak challenge

A couple from Wylde Green have signed up with CP for the Peak District Challenge – to raise money for the Branch.

Michael Hardiman and partner Leashley Arrowsmith have ‘just hit 40, adore their own cat Stan, and – fortunately – enjoy walking and hiking.

Says Michael: “We both really enjoy walking and hiking and have completed the Three Peaks Challenge in the past. We saw this challenge and really wanted to raise funds for Cats Protection as we have our own cool much-loved ‘Stan the Man’. He is a 5-year old Bengal who eats better than we do! And then enjoys a good rest on the sofa!”

Partner Leashley has grown up with cats and says at some point she has ‘lived with as many as five cats at any one time!”

The couple are aiming for 50km in circa 12 hours across the peaks. Sadly, since planning the challenge, a member of their wider family has suffered the loss of their cat Tiler who went to Rainbow Bridge on 12 August. So the memory of Tiler will ‘spur them on’.

This purrfect partnership will be starting their fundraising efforts in earnest over the next month or so. Of course, all cat lovers and CP   supporters are welcome to boost Branch feline funds early if they want to.

Evie Barrett, CPs Challenge Events Officer, confirmed that Michael and Leashley are taking part in the Peak District challenge 15-16 September -  Peak District Challenge | Walks and treks | Cats - signing up together.

Says Evie: “Their fundraising target each is £300 (£600 in total) which will go straight to the North Birmingham Branch. Late August now, the boots are airing, so let the training begin!”
