May pub quiz - good fun and feline funds topped-up

Everyone ‘scored’ at the NBCP May pub quiz on the 12th – it was great fun - but as usual, team Catatonic had the highest score and won first prize. Cats and kittens in care scored too – to the tune of around £249.

‘Still no idea’ who came second, do seem to be getting the idea! A case of ‘must try harder’ next time. Team members of ‘Saving Pussy’ – Adam, Shelley, Sarah and Sam – were well-placed to take what many consider the best prize of all – the delightfully-decorated wooden spoons.

Pictured are raffle-prize winner Chris, the surprisingly happy 'losing' team 'Saving Pussy', volunteers Lee and Sue adding up the scores, and compere/quizmaster Adam Darkes, who brightens up Digby quiz nights and keeps order!

Best team name was judged as ‘Tale of Two Kitties' – well done Erdington pet-stall holders and friends Carolyn, Barbara, Jocelyn and Linda. Carolyn says ‘it is always a great night, and they very much enjoyed using their Empire cinema tickets when they last won a prize’.

This time the first prize in the raffle was won by Chris Kostrezbski (top left), a member of team ‘Catapulting Kittens’ who did well in the quiz too - coming in third. She's now earnestly looking forward not only to the next quiz night (11 August) but also to the prize night out – tickets to The Importance of Being Earnest which is being performed 16-19 June at Sutton Town Hall.

CP thanks to everyone who came along, volunteers, Digby staff, and winners and losers alike. Take heart that the cats and their care win every time!

** Regular quiz volunteers are looking for someone to help organise the August event. If you can, do call the helpline and leave a message, and someone will get back to you. You will have fun and help the cats!
