Tamara appeals for cat-lovers cast-offs

The manager of the new Cats Protection charity shop on Erdington High Street, Tamara Bolger, is busy dispensing smiles along with collection bags – appealing to supporters to ‘fill them up so she can stock up and sell more’!

She confirms that ‘ladies clothes particularly are flying off the hangers and selling out fast – but she doesn’t want to ‘sell out’ to the cats and kittens in branch – so wants everyone to check out what they’ve not worn for a while, pop it into a bag, and drop it off at the shop.’

Enthuses Tamara, who Erdington folk know well from her days in the nearby Wilton Market: “We are really pleased with the response we’ve had from the pet-loving public – so we’re now open on Sundays too. So please, you can drop off your donations 7 days a week – and if Sundays are easier for you, for parking, then do come along on Sunday. We need to raise as much money as we can to ensure that North Birmingham volunteers can do their best for needy local cats and kittens.”

Homing Officer Sheila Pennell confirms how happy and relieved the local volunteers and supporters are to ‘have the presence of the new shop’ in such a thriving High Street.

“I've just received a request to adopt a kitten where the initial enquiry had come via the shop rather than the website. Tamara and Assistant Manager Anita are doing a grand job so please heed their plea for more donations. I’ll certainly continue clearing out my wardrobe and donating. We all sometimes buy clothes on impulse that we wear rarely or never – so we hope cat-lovers – and everyone - will continue to donate throughout the autumn and winter – and come in and spend too!"

*The shop is at 104, Erdington High Street - just a few doors down from the co-op supermarket store. The telephone number is 0121 350 8795.
