Tower Hill library invites Cats Protection in ...

Cats Protection volunteers have been asked to run a ‘cat craft day’ at Tower Hill library during February half term week – and families keen on craft activities and learning about cats are invited.

Library assistant Sarah Vokes set the ball rolling by inviting volunteers Sheila and Tony into the Great Barr library at the end of January to set up a display focusing on the work of the charity and the importance of neutering campaigns.

Says Sarah: “I’m crazy about cats and have two of my own, and I’ve been helping the children who visit the library make cardboard cats - and dogs too – we must be fair – and discovered that Cats Protection volunteers were happy to come in to answer cat questions and contribute their expertise in running craft sessions. So we’re all set now for our own event.

“It is planned for Thursday, 18 February – half term week. We’ll advertise it widely and I’m sure it will be well-attended, great fun, and the children will learn about the ‘five welfare needs of cats’ – and much more I’m sure.”

** A similar event is planned for Shard End Library the same week, with two one-hour sessions – 2 till 3 and 3 till 4 on Tuesday, 16th February. Any libraries, schools or adult groups who meet-up and enjoy a talk, can call the helpline (0345 260 1503) and leave a message requesting a call-back from a Cats Protection speaker.
