We want to help. We hate to say 'no'. The hard fact of life is that the amount of help that we can give is governed by the number of volunteers that we have, and the amount of money that we can raise. Please consider joining the branch as a supporter or a volunteer. Members receive a newsletter every two months, with information about future and past fundraising and social events, and details of cats in care. Membership is currently £10.00 a year, just get in touch and we'll be happy to send you a membership form, or you can join at one of our events.
We do not have a shelter, and potential fosterers and adopters are asked to contact us to discuss the cats in care.
Our branch is run by unpaid volunteers. Unlike branches in more prosperous areas, we don't have much of a legacy income, or wealthy supporters. We raise most of our money from our charity shop in Penwortham, and from a variety of fundraising ventures. If you can help us financially, please click on the Donate bucket icon above, or send cheques made payable to CP Preston Branch, to The Treasurer, CP Preston Branch, 23 Higher Greenfield, Preston, Lancs, PR2 3ZX. Donations can also be made at our charity shop at 77 Liverpool Road, Penwortham, during business hours. Legacies are always gratefully received. If you are thinking of making or changing your will, please remember us. Do specify in your will that any legacy is for the Preston Branch. We can provide a leaflet about your will on request.
If you want to give your time, you can use your skills to make items for our craft stall, or you can help out at one (or more) of our fundraising events. We need people who can dedicate some time to attending and organising fund raising events. We are always looking for new ways to draw people to our events, and in doing so make more money to help local cats. We have a shop at 77 Liverpool Road, Penwortham, and are always looking for volunteers in many roles to help at the shop. Please pop into the shop to enquire about volunteering.
We are keen to see our hard earned funds directed towards cat rescue. However, there are overheads involved, mostly unavoidable costs such as advertising, vehicle running costs, postage etc. The list below shows what we need at the moment. If you can help, please let us know.
JUMBLE & BRIC-A-BRAC - We desperately need donated goods to help us with our fundraising efforts. Don't put that stuff in the collecting bag that fell through the letterbox, support your local charity! We will collect on request. We need clean jumble for the jumble sales, and intact, clean, saleable bric-a-brac, jewellery, craft items, books, CDs, DVDs, toiletries, cakes and good as new clothes for the Fairs. The only exception is that we can't take large items of furniture or videocassettes. Other than that, all offers will be gratefully received.
STATIONERY / PACKAGING- OK, we're not expecting miracles here, but we do get through a lot of envelopes, stamps, and paper, all of which have to be paid for. Go on, at the very least dig out that half ream of orange card that you've had for ten years, we'll find a use for it. All donations welcome.
TOILETRIES - You know what we mean, unopened, unwanted gifts, leftovers from gift sets, souvenirs from hotel rooms - we can use them to make our own gift baskets.
CONTACTS FOR COLLECTABLE ITEMS - We are often given books and records, and would like to find the right market for them. Contact us if you are interested.
We now have an Amazon wishlist - www.amazon.co.uk/gp/registry/wishlist/9F4ZSCLN2KDX/ref=cm_sw_em_r_wsg_pQgkzbFW5QFEE_wb
We also have a Text Giving number - Text CATP56£3 to 70070 (if you'd like to give a different amount, please change the 3 to the amount you'd like to donate.)
