Salisbury & District Branch is run entirely by volunteers in their own time and from their own homes. Offers of help are always welcome - so whether you can spare just an hour every now and again or commit to a more involved daily role, there is something for everyone!
If you have a particular skill, product or service that you would like to offer, then please get in contact - we are always open to new ideas and would love to hear from you!
We currently have the following volunteer vacancies:-
Feral Manager - URGENTLY NEEDED to manage our successful Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) program across the local area. Prioritising the waiting list of ferals to be trapped and neutered. Liasing with other volunteers, members of the public and vets when ferals are to be trapped, neutered and returned. Working with the Welfare Officer when young feral kittens/mums need to come into branch care. Working with the Homing Coordinator when ferals need to be relocated. Specialist trapping equipment, training and full support given so no experience necessary! Access to internet is essential. A mobile phone for CP calls will provided.
'In-home' Fosterers - to care for our cats and kittens, in accordance with CP Cat Care Standards, in your own home while they wait to be homed. A separate room will be needed (if you have pets) and you must be prepared for potential adopters to visit the cats. Transport (for regular vet trips) and internet access is essential. Food, litter and other supplies are delivered monthly and all expenses can be claimed back. For more information, please request a copy of our Fosterer's Guide.
Feral Team Trappers - to set (humane) traps for feral and semi-feral cats and kittens as part of our TNR programme, to transport trapped cats to the vets for neutering, to release cats to existing or new locations, to carry out home visits for potential new locations and if necessary to advise/assist with settling the cats in. Experience with ferals is not necessary as full training and support will be provided. Availability during normal vet opening hours (Mon-Fri 8am to 7pm) and transport is essential.
Fundraisers - to help out at our various events and collections throughout the year (even doing an hour can be very helpful).
Home Visitors - visiting potential adopters to discuss the suitability of their home for the cats we have in our care. Transport essential.
Helpliner Operator - to answer our helpline one day a week or 1 weekend a month, logging call details into our online database for the relevant coordinator to action. Our 0845 number is diverted to your landline (or mobile) for the duration of your shift (your phone number is never made public). A simple step by step guide to dealing with different call types is available and full support given. Access to the internet essential.

Please note we do not have a centre at Salisbury so the cats are cared for in volunteer's own homes.
