Adopting a cat - The adoption fee explained
We charge an adoption fee of £200 for a kitten and £150 for a cat, this covers the costs of care before he or she is handed over to the adopter.
Our package of care costs around £300 per cat and includes the basic care costs of shelter, food and litter as well as the Cats Protection Care Package
- Take the cat or kitten to the vet for a general check up
- Arrange and pay for blood tests for FIV and FeLV
- Arrange and pay for the first and second vaccinations
- Supply, inset and register a microchip
- Pay for worming and de-fleaing treatment
- Pay for any necessary medical treatment
- Neuter cats before they are rehomed and all kittens when they are old enough
- One months free cat insurance
