Volunteering

Cats Protection helps thousands of cats across the UK each year thanks to our network of dedicated Volunteers.
St Helens Cats Protection has been rescuing cats and kittens in the Merseyside and Cheshire areas for many years now and we have had great success in the rehoming, neutering, and general welfare of our feline community.

If you have any spare time and would like to help out at the St Helens Adoption Centre please contact Beni at the centre by e-mail northwest.volunteer@cats.org.uk phone 01744 817718 or pop along and visit us during our opening hours of 11am - 3pm to find out more about the opportunities we have available.

If you are looking for a school/college/university work experience placement then please call the Centre on 01744 817718 or call in any day between 11am – 3pm to discuss this further.  We will try to accommodate where we can but please be aware that as a small Centre we only have availability for a limited number of students.  All students applying for a placement will be asked to attend a short interview before any offer of a placement is confirmed.
Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR) Volunteer

Unfortunately thousands of cats each year are abandoned or have strayed and rely on charities like Cats Protection for help. Becoming a TNR volunteer is one way you can make a real difference to cats in your local area. Our TNR volunteers help reduce the number of feral cats by raising awareness of our TNR programmes, setting humane traps to safely capture cats, taking them to local vets to be neutered, and hopefully returning them back to their territory. Local TNR programmes are crucial, as feral and abandoned cats present a huge challenge for communities across the UK.

Cat Care Volunteer

Across Cats Protection our feline friends looking for new homes are cared for either at our adoption centres, by volunteer fosterers in their own homes or in purpose built pens in their gardens. Our cat care volunteers are part of a passionate team that look after and meet the needs of cats whilst they are in our care. This is an exciting role for cat lovers, as our cat care volunteers get to spend time directly with the cats when cleaning their pens, helping with feeding and when enriching their lives before they find their forever homes.
