Volunteering

Following a call from Cats Protection to develop a Carmarthenshire branch, a core group and a growing team of volunteers are currently running the branch.

Volunteering in general
We are looking for committed people who have a hands-on and team approach.  Although these are volunteer roles, we do expect a certain amount of commitment as running a branch does require a lot of work and spare time investing into it. All of our volunteers are unpaid. Without the fundraising aspect of our branch there is no operational activity and consequently, no cats in care, so we do encourage people to join in a few events a year to help keep funds at a healthy level and to support the team of people who give up their time to do this.

Funding
The branch does not as a rule, receive financial support from its national office, except for neutering voucher allocation. Through fundraising we have been able to buy a UPVC Pen, so that we can take in cats. However, we continue to fundraise, so that in the long run we can purchase more pens and help more cats. The positive aspect about fundraising ourselves, is that all the money raised in our county, stays in our county.

Roles available
We are a flexible team in that we encourage people to do a little of everything. Some of the roles that are available include: Fundraisers, Trappers, Fosterers, Education, Rehoming, Publicity and many more.

How do I get in touch?
We would encourage you to meet some of our volunteers for a chat or alternatively you can email us at carmarthencats@gmail.com, or call our helpline on 0345 260 1382 to find out more about what's involved or ask us for an application form.

Branch Secretary Volunteer

At Cats Protection we help thousands of cats and kittens each year thanks to our dedicated volunteer groups. These groups of passionate individuals all help our feline friends in different ways. They take in stray and abandoned cats and ensure they receive the veterinary care and attention they deserve, help raise funds, promote neutering and help spread cat welfare messages. Our volunteer secretaries provide the support that helps our volunteer groups run smoothly. They make a real difference to the lives of our feline friends by helping maintain positive communications, supporting others, promoting the work of Cats Protection and signposting queries from members of the public.
