The Ipswich Cats Protection, along with many other Cats Protection Branches are solely run by volunteers. Each and every person involved in the welfare, care and re-homing of the cats- all volunteers. Everyone “behind the scenes” with admin, fundraising and advertising, also all volunteers.
Volunteering can help you gain valid experience in a role of which you desire to make a career, it helps with personal growth and strengthens your skills at no cost. When volunteering for the Ipswich Cats Protection, you can explore your interest in animals (cats in particular!) and gain the knowledge and experience you are seeking.
“The Ipswich CP is such a fantastic place to volunteer. I have been in many different roles and each one I have learnt so much, gained many new friends and most importantly really enjoyed myself.” - Megan, volunteer for 4 years and counting!
Would you consider volunteering with us?
We are always looking for people of all ages and talents to help at the Ipswich Cats Protections. Woodworkers, DIY, electricians, knitters, seamstresses, crafters, bakers, administration, car drivers, you name it, we need it.
Some roles you will not need to have any contact with the cats in our care. For example, you may want to volunteer at our shop at 20 Queens Street, Ipswich, IP1 1SS.
We need you every day, once a week, once a month, whatever suits you - we just ask you be keen and reliable.
SEEKING CURRENT VOLUNTEERS FOR:
We are currently seeking out someone to help with our feral programme. This could be collecting cats, transporting them or doing the admin required. Working closely with our "Trapping Officer", you will be guided through the process and trained accordingly.
Events Team Member
This role will involve being part of our small event team. We are looking for someone to help once or twice a month at our events, 2-4 hours at a time.
We are looking for another Facebook and/or Ebay seller as we now get more donated items and are always looking to maximise the amount we can raise from the donations.
Admin Assistant - Maintaining Phone Calls
We are looking for someone who can answer a telephone for us, being one of the contacts when someone calls in with a problem. You would not be expected to solve any problems but take details and signpost the caller. Training will be given as well as full support.
Cat Fosterer - Indoor
Vital to the operation of our branch, fosterers care for the cats we take in until a permanent home is found for them. We can install high spec cat pens in your garden (they don't take up that much space - ask to see one if you're unsure). Or you can foster in a dedicated room in your home.
We are currently looking for another indoor fosterer to complement our team of mainly outdoor fosterers. All foster cats must be kept indoors and separate from other pets in the home, both for their own safety and that of your pets. The branch pays for food, litter, all equipment and veterinary fees for your foster cats. Fostering will cost you nothing but your time.
If you are interested in any of these roles, have any questions, comments or concerns, please get in contact with us. If you wish to enquire about volunteering for another role which is not listed above, please still contact us as we may still be able to help!
You can contact Jean our Coordinator on 0345 371 2069 Option 4, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you, and we look forward to welcoming you to our small, happy and friendly team!
