What we do

We help cats and kittens find new homes and help reunite much loved cats with their owners through our lost & found register.

We also arrange for cats to be neutered when their owners cannot afford the cost of the operation - for details, please see our neutering scheme below.

How to help us

A number of fundraising events take place throughout the year, details of which can be found on our events page.  We also have our very own shop, at 142 Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff-on-Sea, SS0 7LN, which raises money for the branch.

We need volunteers to help us and, if you don't have the time to offer physical help, why not consider becoming a member of our branch instead? This is a great way to show your support and, as with everything we do, you'll be helping local cats.

Members receive quarterly newsletters which keep you up to date on fundraising events and news about the local cats & kittens we're helping.

All this from just £10 a year. What are you waiting for? Please contact Sue on membership@southend.cats.org.uk to join us today!

Neutering is one of our key aims and is a safe and painless way to help keep the cat population under control.  Neutering is an operation to prevent female cats from getting pregnant and male cats from making females pregnant. The operation will be performed by your vet, with your cat being under general anaesthetic.

Neutering is important because, as well as avoiding unwanted litters of kittens, it also has health benefits for your cat.  Spaying female cats means the chance of getting some infectious diseases will be reduced and, for boys, neutered male cats are less likely to end up injured from fighting or stray from home.

We can help with cat neutering advice and also with the cost of the procedure by issuing vouchers that will be accepted by vets in our area.  Please contact Mary on 07982 086096 or via email neutering@southend.cats.org.uk
