Fred's Favourite: Georgie

01 March 2014
Fred Hi there Fred fans!

I think I'll start with a Happy St David's Day to you all!  Thank goodness spring is here, I've been outside soaking up that lovely sunshine as much as I can today, as well as meeting all our visitors.  We have had a kitten and two adults go home today and it is so nice to see them going off to be loved and cherished!

We have a very special young lady with us at the moment who can't wait to get home and start living her life properly.  Her name is Georgie and she arrived at the centre last August as a kitten in a little cardboard box suffering with ringworm.  She was found hiding, scared and alone, in Wrexham town centre and someone kindly rescued her.  Now, I hear that ringworm is particularly difficult to shift if us cats come down with it so she was taken into isolation so she couldn't pass it on to any others!  She looked terrible, with patches of hair missing here and there but after months of treatment she has come through looking absolutely fantastic!  Her coat is beautiful and soft and she has blossomed into a very attractive cat!

I do have to tell you though, she is a girl after my own heart in that she is feisty, oh yes!  Due to her being in isolation having treatment the staff could not spend much time handling her as a kitten as ringworm can be caught by humans too, which you probably know.  Don't get me wrong, she likes to meet people but is still learning what she is allowed to kill and what she shouldn't.  I must say that I do sympathise with her as I myself like to give the staff here a telling off now and then, got to keep them in line you know!  Sometimes I confiscate their lunch or bat their ankles, just to remind them who's in charge around here!

I for one don't think that Georgie would be suitable to live with children, even I wouldn't wish that on the little tinkers.  She really does think that she is a tiger so an experienced cat owner looking for a cat with a bit of spark would be ideal!  Thankfully if she decides to play fight her claws rarely make an appearance, which is pretty good in my opinion!  I reckon that once she gets to know her new family and starts to go out and romp around she will no doubt calm down, especially if she has the opportunity to do some hunting as at the moment she will pounce on any toy that moves!  Somewhere quiet would be great for Georgie so she can get used to going outside again in a safe place.  We do think that she would be a bit too rough to live with another cat but has had a successful meeting with a dog at the centre - rather her than me, I'm not fond of those smelly beasts at all! Uch!

If you feel you can offer Georgie a home with a good outdoor environment for her to explore and no children for her to terrorise then please please please come to see her!  Alternatively, please tell her story to anyone else you feel may be interested, we would love her to find perfect home and get her out of the centre after a long 6 months...

That's all for now folks, hope to see you all at the Centre soon!

Love and purrs,

Fred x
