Three-year-old Nora was taken in by our Dorset Cat Centre when her previous owner could no longer afford to keep her. She had an enlarged lip, so the team took her for a biopsy, which confirmed it was an ulcer. However once the inflammation subsided, another lump was discovered, and another biopsy revealed a lead air gun pellet.
The cat centre team were shocked to find poor Nora had been shot with an air gun. Nora would have been in significant pain when she was shot and ever since. She was extremely lucky that it did not damage her jawbone, hit an eye or even kill her.
Thankfully, Nora survived and has settled well in her new home, although she does show signs of the trauma of her ordeal. With the impact of the cost-of-living crisis, our services are needed more than ever to ensure we can be there for cats like Nora.
