Lost and found volunteer

North Wirral

Our vision for volunteering

Volunteering is and always will be at the heart of Cats Protection. It is joyful and inclusive. As a charity, working in partnership, together we transform the lives of cats, people and communities.

The difference you will make to cats and people

Unfortunately cats can occasionally stray or get lost, which can be extremely distressing for their owners. Our lost and found volunteers are passionate about reuniting lost cats and bringing families back together. They help cats and their owners by advertising lost cats and providing support, advice and guidance to people searching for their cats.

A bit more information about this role and the team

At Cats Protection, we know how distressing it is when a beloved cat goes missing. That’s why we’re looking for compassionate and organised people to join us as Lost and Found Volunteers.

In this rewarding role, you’ll:
✨ Support members of the public who have interacted with a stray cat or who's own cat has gone missing
✨ Keep records of lost and found cats in your local area
✨ Help match reported lost cats with those that have been found
✨ Share posts to advertise missing cats and spread the word
✨ Provide advice, reassurance and guidance to worried owners
✨ The ability to drive to the location of stray cats to scan for a microchip is an added bonus!

By volunteering just 2–3 hours a week, you’ll be making a huge difference to cats and the people who love them – bringing families back together when they need it most.

What’s in it for you?
💛 The joy of helping cats get back home
💛 Learning new skills and boosting your confidence
💛 Meeting like-minded volunteers and being part of a supportive team

We’re looking for friendly, patient volunteers with good communication skills, IT skills and preferably the capacity to head out into the local community to support cats living on the street. If you enjoy working as part of a team and want to make a real impact, then the Lost and Found role could be the perfect fit for you!
