In memory of George (Georgie)
You came into our lives as a hungry stray, frightened of humans. It took a while for us to win your trust. I remember the first time I stroked you, that 'first contact' and your purr. From that moment onwards, we belonged to each other for life. And what a great life it was! You loved to walk with us everyday, 'more dog, than cat' we said! I have some wonderful videos of you in the bluebells, and playing with little Blue. You couldn't climb trees very well (you used to look up at them with such a wishful expression!) so we used lift you into the lower branches of the 'weepy oak' so you could explore (you purred so much!). You waited by the gate for our afternoon walk, so excited when we went. We called you ' King of the Common' and you were. Every morning you were so eager to go out for the day. We said you whole attitude was 'enjoy the day', and you certainly did! Your attitude to life was lesson to all of us. You were our comfort in time of sadness, you helped get us through the long dark days of covid lockdown, every day was a joy to you. As you got older, and less able to walk so far, we used to carry you part of the way so you could still enjoy your favourite walk. You would put your paws round my neck and purr, licking my wrist.. In spirit, you are still with us, still on 'your Common' and we will miss you every day of our lives. You were a very special boy. Until we meet again. All our love, darling boy xxxxxxx
