In memory of Socks

Socks was my eldest cat, and he was a laid back and lazy boy, apart from if food was involved. He loved laying in the garden, we nicknamed him my garden guardian as he used to follow me around or had to keep me close when i went out. He never did this with anyone else, even my mum who he loved so much. I miss waking up and having him laying next to me, or sitting over me, waiting for me to get up. He knew i took a while, he knew i wasnt a morning person, and yet he was patient. He was a big guy, and he was full of so much love, one look and hed pur and come cuddle. When he got sick, it was sudden. He lost control of his lower half suddenly and was in so much pain. We couldnt get a vet out so we had to keep him over night till we could get to the vets the next day. Even while he couldnt walk, hed drag himself to me if i went too far. It killed me, but now it reassures me that he knew he was loved. That i was his safe place. His younger 'shadow' (our other cat, Reno) lay with him all that night, trying to comfort both Socks and me. I hope he remembers how gentle the vet was with him, how he scooped him up and comforted him. How he made sure his tail was tucked into the blanket, and how gently he pet him. Im so greatful towards that vet for his care. Im glad i could have loved him for all of his life, even if i have to now miss him for the rest of mine. I was lucky to be his owner.
