In memory of Morrissey
My best friend Morrissey departed on 20th September after 14 wonderful years together. Morrissey was like no other cat. He was truly special. Despite experiencing health issues throughout his life, he was the happiest cat I have ever known. His favourite place in the world was curled up beside me under a duvet or on a blanket, getting as close as he possibly could. If he wanted attention, he would happily climb up my body just to get his face next to mine. He never missed an opportunity for a cuddle. He greeted me with a smile whenever I came home and purred so much that he dribbled. In fact, at the vet, he often purred so loudly that they struggled to listen to his heartbeat. He made a little squeaky noise every time he ran up the stairs or jumped on the bed, almost as if he was announcing, "I'm coming!" Morrissey was always looking for a lap to sit on or a person to cuddle. Even when he was enjoying a nap on the bed, if he spotted me nearby, he would roll over and ask for a stroke. He wasn't a great hunter or climber like many cats because he was born with bad legs, but what he lacked physically he more than made up for with his incredible character. As a young cat, he loved stealing things from neighbours' gardens. It was not unusual to see him running proudly down the road carrying food or toys in his mouth. Among his greatest achievements were bringing home half a baguette and a leg of lamb. He collected many nicknames over the years: Mo Mo, Mozza, Mozza Bear, Mozzletoff, Mo Man, MoBot, Badger, Mozel and Buddy. Each one suited a different side of his wonderful personality. Morrissey was far more than a pet. He was my companion, my comfort, and my best friend. He brought joy, laughter and love into every day of our lives. He was simply incredible, and he is missed more than words can say. Forever loved, forever remembered.
