When supporting a charity, it is understandable that you want to know how your donation helps and where the money goes. That’s why we have come up with a useful list of frequently asked questions in order to answer any queries you might have about Cats Protection and becoming a Cats Protection Sponsor.

• Do I just sponsor one cat?
  

  No, you’re providing a safe space for lots of cats! You’re sponsoring a pen at one of our adoption centres. So whenever we rehome a cat, a new cat will take their place. This means your kindness will make a difference to many unwanted cats and kittens.

• Will I hear about all the cats that stay in the pen I’m sponsoring?
  We’ll send you lots of fun updates about the cats that stay in your pen – especially if you opt in to receiving emails. You can also visit our online portal using the login details above, and see who’s in your pen right now.

• How does my sponsorship money help?
  

  Your sponsorship helps fund the food, shelter and medical care of every cat that stays in your pen. It also helps care for every cat and kitten in Cats Protection’s 30 centres and around 200 branches across the UK. In total, we care for around 200,000 cats a year – thanks to the kindness and generosity of people like you.

• Can I adopt a sponsor cat?
  We’d love you to! All of our sponsor cats are available for adoption, but we aim to rehome them as quickly as possible. Visit ‘Find a cat’ to see all the cats that are currently up for adoption.

• Can I come to see my pen?
  Yes, you’re more than welcome to visit any centre. Just give us a call before you arrive to check the centre you’re visiting is open – you can find a list of centres and contact details on our website.

• Can I give Cats Sponsorship as a gift?
  Yes. You're welcome to give Cat Sponsorship as a gift – it's ideal for anyone you know who loves cats. Please note, the sponsorship pack will be sent directly to your gift recipient.

• How much does it cost?
  You can become a Cats Protection Sponsor from just £6 a month – that's the equivalent of £1.38 a week. Of course, you're welcome to make a bigger gift each month, or sponsor more than one pen – we need all the help we can get to make sure every cat in need of a safe space finds it at Cats Protection.

• Can my Cat Sponsorship donations go to a specific Cats Protection adoption centre or branch?
  Yes, please call 0800 917 2287 or email cpsponsor@cats.org.uk to discuss this. A number of our sites promote Cat Sponsorship on their local Cats Protection webpages which you can sign up through to support them directly.
