Support us

Since its founding in 2006 the local branch of Cats Protection has been working hard to help needy cats and kittens in the Lancaster, Morecambe and South Cumbria areas, supporting, caring, rehoming and educating. As a voluneer branch we operate solely through our dedicated team of volunteers, and rely greatly on your support to help us continue the work we do.

There is a range of ways you can help aid the work we do at our Lancaster & Morecambe Cats Protection branch :

Adopt a cat
The more cats we rehome, the more cats we can help! If you can offer one of our cats a loving home please give us a call on 03000 12 12 12 (an answering machine will record your message, and a volunteer will call you back as soon as possible) or get in touch via our Facebook page by clicking here

Foster a cat
Our branch does not have a cattery or an adoption centre- all the cats in our care are fostered directly by our volunteers in their own homes. Currently we are full to the brim, and unfortunately a lengthy waiting list doesn't allow us to help as many cats as once as we'd love to. We are desperate for fosterers. If you have a spare room you wouldn't mind lending to a little furry lodger, or a garden where we could erect an external cat pen (pens are fully equipped and heated) which we are in a very high need of, becoming a volunteer fosterer for our branch may be a good way for you to get involved with Cats Protection. Please spread the word!

You can support us by joining our team of dedicated volunteers occupying various roles within our branch. Please see our Volunteering subpage for more details.

Making a financial donation
We’re very appreciative of all financial donations to help fund our work at the branch ,and no matter how much- it all counts!

You can make a one off donation to our branch, or leave a gift in your will (please click here for more information).

Donating to one of our food baskets
We are always in need of cat food, toys and related items. You can donate those by placing them in one of the Cats Protection food baskets. They are located in: Sainsbury's Lancaster and Sainsbury's Morecambe, and as of recent- Asda Lancaster. We currently have a particularly high need for kitten food.

Sponsor vulnerable cats via our sponsorship scheme
We now offer sponsorship packs which you can also purchase as a gift. We offer three sponsorhip options- Golden Oldies, Chronically Ill, and Feral Cats. Every pack comes with a beautifully designed information sheet explaining exactly how your support helps us, a story from one of our volunteers personalised to the pack you get, a thank you/gift certificate, and some Cats Protection goodies- a bookmark, a postcard, a window sticker and a badge, all in an envelope with our banner on it.

Purchase a gift certificate
We offer fully personalised laminated gift certificates. As always- all the money will be used to help cats in need in our Lancaster and Morecame branch.

Have some fun and do some fundraising
There are lots of fun events you can get involved with that also offer an opportunity to fundraise for Cats Protection. Run, swim, cycle, skydive.... you name we've got it!

If your birthday is nearing, please consider a Facebook Birthday Fundraiser- two weeks before your birthday, you will see a message from Facebook in your News Feeds giving you the option to create a fundraiser for their birthday. You can also create your own fundraiser, if there's a more specific way you'd like to raise for us, click here to see how to create a personalised fundraiser.

Play the weekly lottery and help cats in our care
The Cats Protection Weekly Charity Lottery is a great way to show your support for cats and kittens in need. For as little as £1 a week you could pay for nutritious food for a starving cat, with our lottery income covering the cost of rehoming over 10,000 cats and kittens. You could help us vaccinate cats against life-threatening illnesses such as Cat Flu, Enteritis and Leukaemia.

** Please remember to select the Lancaster & Morecambe branch from the drop down list to ensure our centre receives the funds. **
