About the craftalong

The live craftalong with our friends and crochet experts The Left Hookery will take place on Saturday 4 July at 10am in the Craft for Cats Facebook group.

Can't make it? No problem! The tutorial will be recorded and available to watch back in your own time, or alternatively, you can use the instructions in the kit to craft at your own pace.

Sign up yourself or as a gift to a special cat lover in your life and a kit will be delivered straight to their door.

The cost to take part includes your crochet kit, access to the Craft for Cats Facebook group, support from our Events team and The Left Hookery. You'll also be supporting our work to make a better life for cats.

What is crochet?

Crochet is a technique that creates fabric by interlocking loops of yarn, or other materials using a single hooked needle (crochet hook).

Starting with the very basics in crochet, like how do you hold your hook, you'll build confidence and develop fluency in core stitches using UK terms, including double crochet (dc), half treble crochet (htr), treble crochet (tr) and slip stitch (sl st).

After signing up, you'll be able to access to an exclusive webpage where you'll find additional materials and tutorials to set you up on your crochet basket making journey.

Welcome to The Left Hookery

Bringing the world of crochet to Craft for Cats for the first time is The Left Hookery. Owned by the lovely Tamsin who will also be your craftalong host, The Left Hookery is a modern chunky crochet business based in North Devon.

Tamsin designs modern crochet kits and patterns that make crafting accessible, enjoyable and beautifully tactile.

When not designing new projects or teaching workshops, Tamsin can usually be found at her studio shop in Yelland - or at home with her two cats, sibling duo Shadow and Starlight.
