Help us to end the suffering of cats with extreme traits

Looking for cute cat breeds? Your potential pet might look adorable on your social media feed but they are likely to be facing huge health issues that aren’t quite so appealing.

Although flat-faced, hairless and Scottish Fold cats are growing in popularity, many cat lovers don’t realise that breeding for these features can lead to serious health issues. In truth, these features are extreme traits that greatly affect cats and their wellbeing.

At Cats Protection, we’re here for every cat. That includes those who have been bred with extreme characteristics that impact their health and wellbeing. We want to empower current and potential owners to know how they can care for these cats.

However, we also believe that all cats deserve a good quality of life. Being bred for appearance can leave them with pain and a poor quality of life, and that’s why we’re determined to end the breeding of extreme physical characteristics in cats.

We’re calling on the government to urgently introduce regulations to license cat breeding to end the unethical breeding of cats. Sign the petition now.

Ever wondered why some breeds of cat look dramatically different to others? Read our blog post where our resident vet Sarah Elliott explores the origins of certain cat breeds.
