Always wanted to take on the world's biggest half marathon, the Great North Run? Now is your chance! Join our team in 2026 for this world-famous event from Newcastle upon Tyne to the beautiful North East coast.
The 13.1 mile route takes you through the city centre and across the iconic Tyne Bridge and if you're lucky, you might get a glimpse of the Red Arrows passing overhead!
Ready for your next challenge? Join Team Cats now and make a real difference to the cats and kittens that need our help.
For this half marathon challenge there is a registration fee of £40 and we ask for a minimum sponsorship commitment of £375.
This amount could fund a month of running our Paws to Listen service, a phone line that takes calls from people who are struggling to cope with the loss of their cat.
Join our team of Cat Champions to get a Cats Protection running vest and then simply set up a fundraising page and raise whatever you can to help the cats and kittens.
The Great North Run ballot is currently open for applications! Sign up now to be in with a chance of securing your own place in the event.
We'll be with you every step of the way, from sign-up to the finish line! When you join Team Cats, you’ll get a first-class experience including:
We help an estimated 157,000 cats and kittens a year through our national network which includes around 185 volunteer teams and 32 cat centres. We also provide an array of cat care information and support, promote the benefits of neutering, and seek to educate people of all ages about cats and their care.
You're able to nominate any local Cats Protection to receive 100% of the money you raise from your challenge, helping the cats in your chosen area.
