28th June 2024

Cats Protection North London Adoption Centre will stop taking in cats for rehoming on 30 June, with the centre winding down all activity in the weeks that follow.

Our commitment to high welfare standards for our cats, has meant we've operated with only eight pens for some time. Following a detailed survey of the site and a consultation process with our team members, we've sadly concluded that due to its age and location, it would not be cost effective to bring the site on Junction Road, Archway, up to our high standards.

However, we’re pleased to share the news that construction of a new North East London site is being planned and, in the meantime, our network of dedicated fosterer volunteers and our two large centres in Harrow and Mitcham are equipped with excellent facilities and more pens to satisfy the welfare needs of cats in London.

Many of our employees and volunteers have now been redeployed to local centres like Harrow and Mitcham as well as our volunteer-run branches. We are also starting a new North London Volunteer Team which will allow volunteers in the local area to continue operations. If you are interested in volunteering with us, use any of our contact methods here:

After 30 June, we will be winding down our operations at the centre and will stop taking in further cats for rehoming. We are urging the public not to bring cats to, or leave cats at the centre as there will no longer be the team members or facilities available to take them in. Please use to contact your next nearest Cats Protection branch or centre, or reach out to other local organisations.

We’d like to thank our wonderful community for their support over 30 incredible years at Junction Road.
