Lost a cat?The first thing to do is to check your home and garden. Your cat might be hiding in the unlikeliest of places - from cupboards to sheds. Speak to your neighbours as well as any delivery people - they might have seen your cat. If your cat hasn't turned up, take a look at our tips and tricks below to intensify your search:
1. If your cat has a favourite toy, try leaving it in your garden.
2. Cats have a strong sense of smell - leave out a regular blanket or bedding to entice your cat out of hiding. You could
try rubbing the blanket on places you know your cat goes or familiar places such as the front door.
3. You might find your cat is more active at night, especially during hotter weather so may not always return home as
they normally do. Go out with a friend or family member when it is dark and call for your cat by name.
4. Bang their food bowl or try shaking biscuits or dry food packaging to attract their attention with sounds that are
familiar to them.
5. Leave a bowl of water out and some food. A tasty treat such as tuna might be enough to bring your cat home.
Cats can disappear for days at a time and return with no trouble. Putting up flyers and advertising on social media are good ways to get the message out that your cat is missing. We can post details of your cat on our social media pages, please get in touch via
Facebook.
If your cat is microchipped and the chip is registered contact the microchip company directly to see if anyone has located your cat. This may prove extremely useful if you have not recently updated your contact information with the microchip company and therefore they have not have been able to get in contact with you.
When you have been successfully reunited with your cat, if your cat is not microchipped please have them microchipped as soon as possible. If you require advice or more information on this please
contact us.
Found a cat?If the found cat is friendly, you might be able to check for an identification tag - if it belongs to someone, give them a call and let them know. You could take the cat to your nearest vet to scan for a microchip, or call us for advise.
