Welcome to the Haverhill & District Cats Protection website.

Founded in May 1927, Cats Protection has grown to become the UK's leading feline welfare charity. Currently, we help around 200,000 cats and kittens every year through our network of over 250 volunteer-run branches, 29 adoption centres and two homing centres.

Our Haverhill and District Branch

We are a small branch, run by a team of volunteers. Our primary aim is to safely and appropriately rehome cats within Haverhill and the district. Additionally, we try to control the population of feral cats in our area by trapping them, vaccinating and neutering them, followed by a safe release back into the wild.

We do not have a central rehoming shelter. Therefore, our cats in care are placed in foster homes of our dedicated and trained fosterers. This also means our cats avoid some stress related to living in a cattery, instead remaining in a home environment. This can often make their transition to a new home easier.

We hope we play a key role in promoting responsible cat ownership within our district. Our work includes offering advice and information regarding cat ownership, including trying to encourage neutering and microchipping of cats. We can often assist in the costs of neutering, if necessary.

Our branch covers the following areas:

Haverhill, Great Wratting, Withersfield, the Thurlows, Kedington, Hundon, Barnardiston, Glemsford, Cavendish, Clare, Sturmer, Steeple Bumpstead, Yeldham, Finchingfield and Sible Hedingham but we occasionally go further afield.

Every year, we successfully rehome many cats and kittens within our district. Please find below some of our rehomed cats.
