Our vision for volunteering

Volunteering is and always will be at the heart of Cats Protection. It is joyful and inclusive. As a charity, working in partnership, together we transform the lives of cats, people and communities.

The difference you will make to cats and people

As a charity we receive numerous enquiries on a daily basis from members of the public related to cats and their welfare. Our enquiries volunteers are part of a passionate team of volunteers that help Cats Protection signpost and manage these enquiries. They help our cats by answering questions from members of the public, providing advice and signposting queries to other volunteers and employees if needed.

Helpline Volunteers required!

Are you always talking about cats and have some spare time? Then why not become a Helpline Telephone Volunteer with Cats Protection Perth Branch!

Telephone calls to our branch are responded to by a dedicated team of helpline volunteers on a daily basis. All calls are diverted to our answering service and then the helpline volunteer for each day phones into the service and takes a note of the messages. They then ring the caller back to get full details and help with their query. Each helpline volunteer has a dedicated day per week - but that doesn't require you to sit by the phone all day! Checking and responding to the messages every couple of hours or so is fine. Volunteers then email the message details at the end of each day to the committee and other volunteers for action. Ideally, we are looking for 2 volunteers, 1 to provide cover on Sundays and 1 to provide cover on Mondays.

Experience and knowledge of cats would be an advantage, but don’t worry – full training is available and you will have back-up from our existing friendly team.
