Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity and our vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs.
Cats are at the centre of everything we do and our objectives are: homing, neutering and educating people about cats and their care.
We help thousands of cats across the UK each year thanks to our network of dedicated volunteers, staff and supporters.
Our vision for volunteering
Volunteering is and always will be at the heart of Cats Protection. It is joyful and inclusive. As a charity, working in partnership, together we transform the lives of cats, people and communities.
The difference you will make to cats and people
We take excellent care of cats and kittens that need help, but life in a rescue environment is not ideal for any cat compared to a loving home. Until we can find them that loving home our cat care volunteers are a passionate, committed team, helping to give cats and kittens the best possible care. Cat care volunteers spend time directly with cats, cleaning their pens, feeding, grooming and enriching their play time.
You will volunteer with others in this role and be part of a multi-pen site or centre team. If you think this is something you would like to do in your own home, please search and apply for the ‘Fosterer volunteer’ role on our website.
You can expect us to
- Make you feel welcome, included and respected in line with our values and behaviours
- Support you in having a positive and impactful experience at Cats Protection
- Cover agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy
- Provide you with access to learning, development and engagement opportunities

Hello Cat Lovers
Cats Protection Aberdeen is looking for a Volunteer Cat Carer at our adoption centre in Bridge of Don near Scotstown for a Thursday morning shift.
Full training will be provided. After completing your Online Training Modules, you will be assigned 'Buddy Volunteers' to double-up with for your shadow training. If successfully completed, you will receive your Cats Protection uniform and begin your shift.
The morning shift is a minimum 3-4 hours between the hours of 8am-12:30pm.
This is very much a hands-on role: Cleaning, Infection Control, Feeding, Medicating, Socialisation, Playtime & Grooming so that their stay with us is as comfortable as possible.
We are looking for Volunteer Carers who are compassionate, caring and who can remain calm and mindful of an animal’s needs in a care setting.
A willingness to learn Cats Protection procedures (using the latest feline research) and to implement them at the adoption centre is essential.
You will learn more than you ever imagined about All Things Cats: their Welfare, Behaviours and importantly their Needs.
Cats Protection Aberdeen is a passionate team with many collective years experience making a real difference to hundreds of cats in the North East: caring for them during their time with us and finding them new loving homes.
Please read through our website before applying to familiarise yourself with all things Cats Protection Aberdeen. www.cats.org.uk/aberdeen
For further information and to express your interest, please fill in the application form telling us about yourself and any experience you have caring for cats or any other animal care experience, and why you are interested in the role.
Please note, due to insurance and lone working, this position is 18 years and over only.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Many thanks
Cats Protection Aberdeen
