The difference you will make to cats and people

We take excellent care of cats and kittens that need help, but life in a rescue environment is not ideal for any cat compared to a loving home. Until we can find them that loving home our cat care volunteers are a passionate, committed team, helping to give cats and kittens the best possible care. Cat care volunteers spend time directly with cats, cleaning their pens, feeding, grooming and enriching their play time.

A bit more information about this role and the team

We are opening applications for Cat Care volunteers at the Devon Cat Centre for Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Our Cat Care Volunteers commit to weekly attendance, arriving at 8.30am and staying for between 2 – 5 hours. The first couple of hours are spent helping the team to give our cat pens their daily cleans and then cleaning the equipment used and utility areas/corridors (it is quite a physical role). Once the cleaning is finished our team take a break together and then volunteers can spend time with our cats which will benefit most from the interaction.

Please be aware that we are tricky to get to on public transport, so if you would be using this method to get to the centre, please look up our location on google maps. The nearest bus stop is at the Cat and Fiddle, and volunteers would need to walk from there. 

We need two referees, so please ensure you include two in your application, preferably with email addresses.

Cat care volunteers usually spend 2 to 3 hours a week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.
