Our vision for volunteering

Volunteering is and always will be at the heart of Cats Protection. It is joyful and inclusive. As a charity, working in partnership, together we transform the lives of cats, people and communities.

The difference you will make to cats and people

If you enjoy driving and would love to use those skills to help our cats, this could be the role for you. Our transport volunteers provide vital assistance to our teams and volunteer groups in the local area by transporting equipment, litter, food – and even cats! They have the essential role of connecting our network of volunteers, sites, vets and supporters.

Without the passionate and committed teams of volunteers across Cats Protection, we wouldn’t be able to help the thousands of cats and kittens each year that rely on us for help.

A bit more information about this role and the team

Come and join our passionate team here at the Rochdale branch where we have over 70 volunteers helping at our site that is located in Oldham (OL4 2JW).

Our transport volunteers come to site and utilise our charity vans to support work across the region, including the transfer of cats between branches and centres, picking up cats coming into care and collecting cats from foster to come to their vet appointments.

This a reactive role and so whilst there may be driving jobs available weekly, some weeks there may be less volunteering opportunities depending on what is occuring at the centre.  When they do occur, driving jobs are typically available throughout the week in office hours (between 8.30am and 4pm).  It is important to say however that there is no pressure to accept every job.  You can simply respond to those convenient for you.

If this suits you, then you could be the one we are looking for!  Pop an application in, we would love to chat to you.  Volunteers within this role require to be a reasonable distance from our site in Oldham on Holgate Street.
