Ethicall

Throughout the year, we will be contacting some of our existing supporters by telephone (from the number 0117 325 4101) to thank them for their support, to ask them to consider setting up a regular donation, or to increase their existing gift. Regular gifts help to fund our vital work helping thousands of cats and kittens across the UK each year.

Cats Protection has a small Supporter Services team, so we have partnered with a professional telephone fundraising agency, Ethicall, who call our supporters on our behalf. Using an agency allows us to contact thousands of our supporters in a short space of time and in a cost-effective way. We hope that this form of fundraising gives our supporters the opportunity to ask questions about our work and discuss the different ways they can support us. It is important to us that you are spoken to in a friendly and respectful way and we carefully selected Ethicall to work with based on the quality of their fundraisers. We ensure that our agency fundraisers are trained thoroughly so they are as knowledgeable as possible and understand the work Cats Protection does.

The number Ethicall will call you from, on our behalf, is 0117 325 4101. If you call the number back, you will hear an automated message letting you know it was us who rang. So, if you receive a call from this number, you can be assured that this is a genuine call on behalf of Cats Protection.

We call existing Cats Protection supporters based on their relationship with us and will only call supporters who have not opted out of receiving fundraising telephone calls from us and will not call those who are registered with the Telephone Preference Service.

You may be called if you:

  • have an existing regular gift
  • gave regularly to us in the past
  • have given to a cash or raffle appeal in the past

 

When calling, our Ethicall telephone fundraisers will:

  • give their name and advise that they are calling on behalf of Cats Protection
  • ask whether you are happy to take the call
  • ask you to verify the first part of your postcode, to ensure that they are talking to the correct supporter
  • let you know if the call is being recorded for training and monitoring purposes
  • if the call is about making or increasing a financial donation, the fundraiser will let you know that they work for an agency along with how much the agency will be paid and how much we expect to raise from the campaign

We limit the number of times we call you, so you will only hear from us a maximum of twice within a year, to thank you for your support and discuss ways in which you can support Cats Protection.

If you let our fundraisers at Ethicall know that you prefer not to receive calls from Cats Protection, they will remove your name from the calling list and end the call. Ethicall will also pass this information on to us so we can ensure that we will not ring you again in the future. Alternatively, please contact our Supporter Services team on 0800 917 2287 or at supporter.services@cats.org.uk if you would prefer not to receive calls from Cats Protection in future.

DTV Optimise

We also run campaigns on television, where viewers can text a specific number to request more information or to set up a regular donation.

We have partnered with professional telephone fundraising agency DTV Optimise, who call viewers back to set up their regular donation. It is important to us that you are spoken to in a friendly and respectful way and we carefully selected DTV Optimise to work with based on their experience in direct response television fundraising. We ensure that all agency fundraisers are trained thoroughly so they are as knowledgeable as possible and understand Cats Protection’s work.

DTV Optimise may call you from 0203 424 5624, 0121 437 5861, 0203 424 3714 or 0203 424 3766 if you have requested a call back after viewing one of our TV adverts.

When calling you in response to your text message, our DTV Optimise telephone fundraisers will:

  • give their name and advise that they are calling on behalf of Cats Protection
  • ask whether you are happy to take the call
  • let you know if the call is being recorded for training and monitoring purposes
  • if you choose to set up a regular gift, will let you know how much the campaign is expected to raise

Not happy with the call you have received?

Our agency fundraisers at Ethicall and DTV Optimise are required to adhere to rules set out by the Fundraising Regulator to ensure you are fully informed and never feel pressured to set up a regular donation or to increase an existing gift. We closely monitor our agencies to ensure they’re following the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Practice and are delivering the excellent standards of customer service that our supporters deserve.
