Welcome to Cats Protection Truro & District Branch

Truro & District Branch of Cats Protection was formed in 1984. We are a group of enthusiastic volunteers who are passionate about cats and their welfare. We cover postcodes: PL28, TR1, TR14, TR15, TR16, TR18, TR19, TR2, TR20, TR21, TR22, TR23, TR24, TR25, TR26, TR27, TR3, TR4, TR5, TR6, TR7, TR8 and TR9.

You can keep up to date with our activities by following our Truro & District Branch Facebook page and our Cats Protection Truro Charity Shop Facebook page. We would be delighted if you would like/follow these pages.

We are hoping to be up and fully running with our fostering and adoptions again in the coming months. We are actively seeking fostering volunteers - please look at our Volunteering section for more information.

In the meantime we can assure you we are continuing with cat welfare, particularly our £5 neutering campaign, You can find out why neutering is so important here.  If you know anyone who is struggling in these hard times and needs to get their cat neutered, please refer them to the information below.

For our work with feral cats, we are lucky enough to have a volunteer with years of experience helping feral cats in Cornwall. Our main activity is TNR - trap, neuter & return - where a feral cat will be humanely trapped, taken to a vet for neutering, and returned to his/her original location. We also find new homes for feral cats in haybarns or warehouses, where they can earn their bed and board keeping down the local rodent population. If we can help with either of the above, please contact us.

You can find out more about the work of Cats Protection here.

Volunteer at Cats Protection Truro & District

Without volunteers, Cats Protection Truro & District Branch simply wouldn't exist. Our amazing, friendly volunteers are a diverse group with a shared love of cats who fit volunteering around their home lives and personal commitments.

We are always keen to welcome new volunteers to our team. There are lots of ways in which you can help, from behind the  scenes admin to fostering to driving cats to and from vets.  As well as meeting great people and making an incredible difference to the cats in our area, you'll enjoy practical benefits such as discounted pet insurance.

We are actively seeking Fostering volunteers to help us resume our rehoming work. A fostering volunteer plays a vital role in caring for the cats and kittens who come into the branch, sometimes from very difficult situations. Our Branch works with purpose built cat pens in the gardens of supporting volunteers. These cat pens have been funded by the Branch and our volunteer fosterers give their time to care for cats, whilst the Branch finds suitable loving homes. Other volunteers care for cats and kittens in specially adapted spare rooms in their homes. You can find out more about fostering here. If this sounds like something you would enjoy doing, please contact us. We would love to hear from you!

We always need people to help in our charity shop in Pydar Street, Truro and it is a very pleasant place to spend time - a happy band of volunteers helping to raise money to help local cats. If this appeals to you please give our Shop Manager, Julie a ring on 01872 276351. Have a look at our Cats Protection Truro Charity Shop Facebook page where we keep everyone up to date with our great bargains.

If you are a cat lover with an hour or two to spare, please get in touch!
