What is the Zoomies Series: Spring Challenge?

This challenge, which takes place in May 2026, is the first virtual running challenge in our brand-new running event series, known as the Zoomies Series. For each challenge in the Zoomies Series you sign up for, you’ll receive an exclusive, cat-shaped medal to add to your collection.

How far do I have to run?

We’re challenging you to run a total of 50k across the month of May for cats. For example, you may choose to run a shorter distance every day in May or conquer a few bigger runs to make up your 50k distance goal.

When does the run take place?

We would encourage you to complete your challenge within the month of May 2026.

Where can I do my run?

Anywhere in the world! As this is a virtual run, this challenge does not have a set location, so you can complete your running sessions local to you or at a destination of your choice.

Can I buy any Cats Protection apparel to wear during my challenge?

You can purchase a neck buff when signing up for the challenge. A neck buff costs £12 on top of the £20 registration fee. Please note that due to new EU and Northern Ireland regulations, we are unable to send neck buffs to countries in the EU or Northern Ireland. How much money do I have to raise?

It costs £20 to sign up, which includes your medal, and this will support our work to make sure every cat finds a loving home. You can also set up a JustGiving page and fundraise through your virtual running challenge, meaning your 50k will make an even bigger impact on the cats that need our help.

Why should I do the Zoomies Series: Spring Challenge?

You’ll feel amazing inside and out as you conquer your 50k. The Zoomies Series: Spring Challenge will encourage you to tackle a new personal challenge to benefit both your physical and mental health, and all the while you’ll know that your efforts are helping to make a better life for cats.

How your Zoomies will help cats and kittens

Without your support, we simply wouldn’t be able to provide the level of care we do for cats on a daily basis.

£20 could cover the cost of a catnip mouse toy for 20 cats in our care, providing them with enrichment and a safe outlet for their very own zoomies
Just £50 could cover the cost of feeding 28 cats in our care for a week
£100 would cover the full cost of neutering for two male cats

You can choose any local Cats Protection to receive 100% of your registration fee and the funds you raise from your challenge, helping the cats in your area.
