Cat flap access to a safe garden
Why do I need a cat flap?We always ask that adoptive homes allow free access through a cat flap to a safe outdoor space.
Cats have a natural tendency to explore, so allowing them free access to the outside gives them mental stimulation and reduces stress. Benefits include:
- variety of interesting environments, sights and smells available.
- ability to express natural behaviours like scratching and spraying in a natural environment
- exercise - climbing trees and other natural exercise behaviours reduce the obesity risk
- space to remove themselves from stressful or noisy situations in the household if needed. To adopt a cat from Cambridge Cats Protection:

We don't have a shelter: foster cats are looked after individually by our fosterers.
One of us will visit you to tell you about the cats in our care and their needs. We will then arrange for you to see any of the cats you are interested in.
Due to increasing costs of cat care, our adoption fee will increase from 1st October to £60 for a cat and £90 for a pair.
All our cats come fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, flea'd, wormed and with 4 weeks free Petplan insurance. We are happy to provide follow up advice after all adoptions.

Cat flaps are essential to ensure your cat has the freedom to choose when to go out or come in, rather than never knowing when a door may be open. Thinking of getting/replacing one?
