Donate Sponsor

Employer Supported Volunteering (ESV) provides employees with the opportunity to volunteer in the community, facilitated by their employer.

This involves employees donating their time and expertise, either during work hours or in their own time. Find out more about what’s available below.

At Cats Protection we offer opportunities in fundraising and events; and at our centres.

Volunteer for fundraising and events

We have some fantastic opportunities to volunteer and directly help cats and kittens through our fundraising and events initiatives.

  • Individuals and teams can take part in a challenge event
  • Host a bake sale or Pawsome Afternoon Tea event at your workplace
  • Arrange a raffle/dress-down day at your workplace
  • Staff a bucket collection or street collection
  • Hold a ‘get crafty’ day at work and make enrichment toys for cats. If you like it why not tell your employees/colleagues about our Craft for Cats online event
  • Arrange a quiz night/bingo night/race night/fashion show - click here
  • Use your marketing skills
    • Marketing plans – we run various event-related campaigns each year and you could be involved with the latest event planning to create a marketing plan. We would give you full details of the event for you to provide suggestions
    • Copywriting – if you have strong copywriting skills as an individual or as a team then this is for you! We require wide ranging sets of copy for marketing events and also stewarding supporters to raise lots of much needed funds to help cats
    • Social media – from scheduling organic posts and tweets, to creating motivational supporter posts in our many groups this could be for you if you like all things social

How many people can get involved?

We can support one person through to groups of 15-20 or more. A group of 10 or more could staff a bucket collection day, form a small organising committee to host a fundraising event or source raffle prizes for a raffle and dress-down day at work.  Please give as much notice as possible when applying for these opportunities.

Where are the opportunities based?

We have opportunities available throughout the UK. We have site-based fundraising events and initiatives which require teams of volunteers, or we can work with you to source fundraising opportunities in your local area, these could range from bucket collections at supermarkets, to street collections or manning a stall at a busy train station.

Please contact events@cats.org.uk and mark your email ‘FAO Rebecca Worth’ or call 01825 741 960 and ask for Rebecca.

Volunteering in cat care

Our centres are resuming ESV opportunities where they have capacity and suitable opportunities to do so – you will need to contact your nearest centre to check.

ESV case study – Jenny

A good example of one person using their ESV to help Cats Protection is Jenny who has four ESV days a year, which she books in advance. Jenny drafts and schedules social media content for our events campaigns. She uses her own desk and does not travel to an office, instead we communicate via email, Skype and good old-fashioned phone calls.

If you have any other ESV queries please email volunteering@cats.org.uk

Please note – every site is different and decisions on the availability of ESV opportunities will be made according to whether we can offer the appropriate level of support, to ensure ESV volunteers have a positive experience.
