In summer, up to 50% of the cats in our care can be kittens.

At Cats Protection, we notice the effects of ‘kitten season’ every year where we see hundreds, even thousands, of unplanned and unwanted kittens being born. The number of pregnant cats and unwanted kittens arriving in our care starts to increase steadily from March to May, peaking between June and September.

Outside, without the right care, these kittens are more vulnerable to starvation and illnesses like cat flu. This puts a lot of pressure on our centre and volunteer teams as pregnant cats and kittens need a lot of care. It also means that the older cats waiting for new homes often get overlooked, meaning they stay with us for longer.

This kitten season, use your platform to fundraise and spread awareness of good cat welfare. We want you to have all the support you need to make your fundraising the best it can be.

Thank you treats

To top it all off, as part of kitten season we have some special thank you treats for you and your cat when you hit certain fundraising milestones. Sign up today and set up your page on Tiltify to be eligible for these rewards!

  • When you sign up, we'll ask you if you'd like your audience/community to name one of our kittens
  • We'll guide you to set up a poll in Tiltify. You can put your own name suggestions on the poll or ask your community for suggestions
  • Be kind to the kittens. Obviously, we won't accept mean or rude names for them. The goal is to get them adopted after all!
  • Your community can vote with donations for their favourite name
  • Let us know the winning name and we'll find a new kitten to take that name and send you a photo of them to share with your community
  • Please bear in mind that we'll need to wait for the kitten to be born first!

How does this help cats?

McVitie and his siblings (lovingly known as the biscuit kittens) were abandoned at our Kent Cat Centre in a cardboard box covered with chicken wire. Once safely inside the centre, our team began to peel back the layers of wire, hearing the small meows coming from inside. To their astonishment, inside the box were 13 little kittens. Yes, 13! All of them guessed to be just 10 weeks old. They were crammed on top of each other in the stifling 27˚C heat, exhausted and underweight, so the team began checking them over one by one and gave them some food once we knew they were ok.

All the kittens are now happy, healthy and have found new loving homes. Unfortunately, not all cats are so lucky, which is why we need your support.
