New Homing and Information Centre opens in Maidstone

THE UK’s leading feline welfare charity, Cats Protection, has opened a new homing and information centre at the Newnham Court Shopping Village, Maidstone.*

The centre houses up to 10 unwanted cats at any one time, and is open each day from 9am to 6pm except Fridays (10.30am to 4.30pm) and Sundays (10am to 4pm).

Shoppers can learn more about the charity’s cat welfare work, meet the cats in care and find out information on other unwanted felines in the local area.

The Maidstone Homing and Information Centre is associated with the charity’s nearby Bredhurst Adoption Centre, and is part of Cats Protection’s efforts to find new ways of homing cats in areas of high footfall at a time when the charity is stretched to the limit looking after more than 5,000 unwanted cats across the UK.

Guy Chadwick, Development Manager for Cats Protection said: “Opening the Homing and Information Centre in a busy and vibrant shopping centre such as the one at Newnham Court makes it easier for people to find their perfect feline friend and supports us in our quest to find new homes for unwanted cats.

“Shoppers who would like to adopt any of the cats can simply visit the centre and talk to the CP staff and volunteers, or contact the Bredhurst Adoption Centre to find out more about the adoption process. We hope that the centre will help us to home an additional 150 cats each year.

“We are also using the centre to raise vital funds for cats in our care and educate a wider audience about responsible cat ownership, which is key for the future of Kent’s felines.”

To adopt a cat from the Maidstone Homing and Information Centre then please call 01634 232 471, email bredhurst@cats.org.uk or log on to www.bredhurst.cats.org.uk

Cats Protection is the UK’s leading cat welfare charity and helps over 205,000 cats and kittens each year through a national network of over 250 volunteer-run branches and 32 adoption centres.
